Coupang is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel for Coupang Pay to oversee legal matters related to payment and fintech services. You'll work on regulatory compliance and innovative financial solutions. This role requires a law degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
You are a qualified attorney with a law degree, registered with the Korean Bar Association or an overseas equivalent. You have over 3 years of practical experience in law firms, financial institutions, or fintech companies, demonstrating your ability to interpret new regulatory areas quickly and connect them to business opportunities. Your communication skills allow you to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including product, engineering, policy, and compliance.
In this role, you will serve as a Legal Counsel in the payment and fintech sector, reviewing online and offline payment methods, VAN, QR payments, and merchant fees. You will also assess the integration of global payment functions and business structures, ensuring compliance with electronic financial transaction laws and credit finance laws. Additionally, you will provide legal counsel on new financial service methods involving points, prepaid services, and stablecoins, reviewing the issuance and utilization of stablecoins and related services. You will also handle legal issues related to virtual assets, responding to regulatory agencies and advising on internal control risks. Furthermore, you will review contracts and regulatory matters related to overseas payment collaborations with partners in Taiwan and other regions, ensuring compliance with laws governing card companies and international payment infrastructures.
