Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician I, Electrical to support the operation and maintenance of electrical systems in data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This position requires 5 years of electrical experience in a technical environment.
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution systems. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and you understand the importance of using OSHA standard safety equipment. Your ability to work non-standard hours and shifts makes you adaptable to the needs of the data center environment.
You possess knowledge of electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your experience in maintenance within a technical environment, such as data centers, hospitals, or power plants, has equipped you with the skills necessary to communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on data center systems. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and digital metering.
While not required, experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or a construction/technical environment is preferred. Familiarity with the specific electrical systems and equipment used in data centers will be beneficial in this role.
As a Data Center Facilities Technician I, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions within Google’s data centers. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.
You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Your role will require you to assess the working order of various systems and manage their maintenance to ensure reliability and efficiency. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to maintain the highest standards of safety and operational excellence in the data center environment.
