AI Research Engineer, New PhD Graduate

Who you are

You have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related technical field, or you expect to complete your degree by August 2026. You possess a portfolio of impactful work, which may include publications, open-source projects, or AI internships that showcase your expertise and creativity. Your approach to research and development is interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial, allowing you to think outside the box and propose innovative solutions. Strong debugging and critical thinking skills are essential, as you will be solving complex problems that require a deep understanding of AI and machine learning principles.

What you'll do

In this role, you will solve some of Duolingo's most ambitious problems by selecting the right tools for each task. You will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to bring your ideas to life within the product, ensuring that your contributions directly enhance the learning experience for millions of users. Your responsibilities will include identifying problems, prototyping solutions, evaluating their return on investment, and implementing the best solutions at scale. Additionally, you will share your findings both within Duolingo and with the broader research community, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of AI.
