Software Engineer, Measurement & Ads

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems issues with ease. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a solid understanding of REST APIs, allowing you to create high-performance, reliable services that meet user needs.

You are a systems thinker who approaches problems pragmatically — you understand the importance of correctness and reliability in backend systems and are committed to operational excellence. Your collaborative nature enables you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Data, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed.

You thrive in environments that require autonomy and ownership — you take pride in designing and building backend components that have a meaningful impact on the business. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly helps bridge the gap between engineering and non-technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration.

Desirable

Experience with data-intensive applications and a strong understanding of event-driven architectures would be a plus. Familiarity with analytics and attribution systems can enhance your contributions to the Measurement & Ads team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Measurement & Ads team, you will design, build, and operate the core backend systems that support measurement, attribution, and experimentation across SoFi’s marketing channels. You will tackle complex, data-intensive problems at scale, ensuring that the systems you create are robust and efficient.

You will be responsible for designing reliable event pipelines and attribution systems that connect ad platforms with internal analytics and downstream consumers. Your work will directly influence how SoFi interacts with its members and optimizes its marketing efforts.

Collaboration is key in this role — you will work closely with Product and Marketing teams to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. Your ability to communicate effectively will ensure that all parties are aligned and that the solutions you develop meet business objectives.

You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall improvement of the engineering practices within the team. Your insights and experience will help mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
