Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for Raptor machining to develop and implement machining processes for critical hardware. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to ensure production efficiency and quality.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machining processes — your experience includes developing and implementing efficient production methods for complex hardware. You thrive in environments where you can influence design for manufacturing (DFM) and understand the intricacies of machining critical components like valves and thrust chambers. You are adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design engineers and machinists, to solve production challenges quickly and effectively.

You possess strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable working in fast-paced settings where priorities can shift rapidly — your ability to adapt and innovate is key to your success. You have a solid understanding of machining technologies and programming strategies that enhance production efficiency, allowing you to implement controls that minimize manual intervention. Your experience with change management ensures that you can effectively integrate design updates into production processes.

Desirable

Experience with advanced machining technologies and automation is a plus — you are familiar with the latest trends in manufacturing that can drive cost reduction and quality improvement. A background in aerospace or automotive manufacturing would be beneficial, as it provides context for the high standards required in this role.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer for Raptor machining, you will identify and develop machining processes that enhance engine cost, quality, and production rate. You will work closely with design engineers to implement DFM updates, ensuring that production processes are robust and efficient. Your role will involve collaborating with machinists and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve any production issues that arise, maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for implementing machining process controls that enable parts to run with minimal human intervention, leveraging the latest technologies to optimize production workflows. Your expertise will guide the conceptualization and implementation of full-scale production processes, ensuring that all operations meet the required production rates and cost goals.

In this role, you will also engage in change management, overseeing the integration of design updates into the production line. You will partner with various teams to ensure that all processes are aligned with quality standards and production efficiency. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Raptor engine program, as you work to streamline operations and enhance the manufacturing capabilities of SpaceX.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team focused on making human life multi-planetary. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration. Join us in our quest to push the boundaries of technology and engineering as we strive to make space travel a reality for everyone.
