Staff Software Engineer

**About the Role** The Membership team is responsible for developing and reinventing the Uber and UberEats app to be a member-first experience from: price to perks . You will be on a super collaborative team designed to maximize your ability to deliver results. You will be working on code that's closest to the eaters today and consumers in the future. Your work will impact the foundations of Uber around the world. You will be building the biggest lever for Uber. Uber Members will get something nobody else does: a single platform across all their on-demand needs, anywhere in the world, that always guarantees the best: price, selection, priority, and perks. **What the Candidate Will Do:** - Design, develop, and improve systems and products used by millions of members, in collaboration with a team of talented engineers, Product Managers and Designers. - Write high-quality code and uphold standards for testing and coverage. - Align the team on solutions to ambiguous problems and analyze the tradeoffs of different technical solutions - Contribute to engineering cultivation in terms of quality, monitoring, and on-call practices. - Mentor and coach other engineers. - Find opportunities to improve how our team operates and promote standard processes **Basic Qualifications :** - 7+ years of experience delivering, scaling, and owning highly successful and innovative software products with your fingerprints all over them - you're extremely proud of what you've accomplished. - Proven record of engineering and coding skills. Ability to write high-performance production quality code. Experience in Go, Python, Java or other equivalent languages. - Perseverance to get things done with a focus on shipping online production systems. Roadblocks don't get in your way - they get you excited for the challenge. - A deep love of building elegant, maintainable, well-documented code. Abstracting and refactoring should be a passion, not a chore. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Strong plus for the ability to work across the stack and familiarity with mobile platforms and ML systems. - High bar for quality as shown by code reviews, documentation, unit and integration testing - Drive to always learn new things and go above and beyond the call of duty. - Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Always working to improve yourself and constructively support the team around you. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
