Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development, and have a strong understanding of transaction processing systems. Your expertise in Java allows you to build robust applications that handle complex financial operations efficiently. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy tackling unique technical challenges at scale, contributing to a culture of innovation and ethical solutions.

You are familiar with real-time transaction processing, including authorizations, reversals, and refunds, and understand the intricacies of scheme connection management with major players like Mastercard and Visa. Your experience in financial operations, such as money movements and interchange splits, equips you to ensure accuracy and compliance in reconciliation and settlement processes.

You are proactive in identifying areas for improvement within the platform, bringing your insights on best practices and scalability to the team. You are comfortable working hands-on, contributing to the implementation of complex technical projects from requirements analysis through to production launch.

Desirable

Experience with payment processing systems or financial technology platforms is a plus. Familiarity with agile methodologies and a strong grasp of software development life cycles will help you excel in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Issuing team, you will be instrumental in managing the core lifecycle of card transactions. Your responsibilities will include working on complex technical projects, from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch into production. You will be hands-on in contributing to the implementation, ensuring that the solutions you develop are robust and scalable.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and improve parts of the platform, making it more resilient and efficient. Your role will involve real-time transaction processing, where you will handle authorizations, reversals, and refunds, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

You will also engage in scheme connection management, working with major payment schemes to facilitate smooth transaction flows. Your involvement in financial operations will include overseeing money movements, interchange splits, and fees, ensuring compliance with central banks and payment schemes.

In addition to your technical contributions, you will play a key role in the reconciliation and settlement processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability in financial reporting. You will be expected to bring your own point of view on best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's processes and methodologies.
