You'll work with technologies like Linux, Python, and Docker to automate processes and enhance operational efficiency. This role requires 2+ years of experience in systems automation and technical infrastructure.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in systems automation, you understand the intricacies of managing technical infrastructure, including deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You have a solid foundation in debugging, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues in distributed systems, which allows you to effectively contribute to the operational excellence of complex environments.
Your experience includes testing, maintaining, and launching software products or infrastructure, showcasing your ability to ensure high-performance operations. You are familiar with compute technologies and have a keen interest in observability, understanding that measuring performance is crucial to improving systems. You thrive in collaborative environments, valuing the diverse perspectives of your peers and contributing to a culture of support and mentorship.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is a plus, as is familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. You are comfortable using scripting languages, particularly Python, to automate tasks and improve workflows. Your proactive approach to problem-solving and your ability to work closely with cross-functional teams will help you excel in this role.
As a Systems Development Engineer at Google, you will manage services and systems at scale, focusing on automating processes to reduce toil and enhance operational efficiency. You will collaborate with peers on your team and adjacent teams to ensure the timely delivery of assigned projects, contributing to customer advocacy by understanding user needs and delivering solutions that meet those needs.
Your role will involve developing tools and solutions that address classes of problems rather than just fixing individual bugs. You will emphasize observability by instrumenting systems, turning data into actionable insights, and driving improvements based on those insights. You will support the team in maintaining and enhancing product, engineering, operational, and support excellence, ensuring reliable and high-performance operations across Google's infrastructure.
Google fosters a collaborative environment where diverse backgrounds and experiences are valued. You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that impact the operational efficiency of systems and services at scale. The company promotes self-direction and encourages you to take risks in a blame-free environment, providing the support and mentorship needed to grow in your career. You will be part of a team that believes in the power of community and collaboration, working together to achieve more.
In this role, you will not only enhance your technical skills but also develop your leadership abilities as you mentor others and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Google offers competitive compensation and benefits, ensuring that you are rewarded for your contributions to the team and the company.
