Senior Backend Engineer

Who you are

You have 4+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building and scaling access systems to millions of users globally. Your strong written and verbal communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You hold a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering, and have a solid understanding of scalable distributed systems.

You possess mastery in at least one of Python or Go, allowing you to contribute effectively to the development of Verkada's core products. Your experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL equips you to handle complex data management tasks. You are familiar with microservices architecture and have a keen interest in designing scalable control planes and data primitives.

Desirable

Experience with cloud-based systems and a background in security solutions would be advantageous. Familiarity with handling high traffic from numerous devices is a plus, as is a passion for innovative technology that enhances safety and efficiency.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Verkada, you will design scalable control planes and data primitives for all Verkada products. You will build distributed systems capable of handling high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices deployed worldwide. Your role will involve spinning up new services in a microservices architecture, ensuring that the systems you develop are robust and efficient.

You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and efficiency of organizations that rely on Verkada's integrated security solutions. You will also participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and improvement within the team.
