Senior Backend Engineer

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in building scalable, resilient engines that power platforms, ensuring data integrity and system reliability for thousands of brands. Your experience includes designing efficient database schemas and optimizing query performance to handle high-throughput workloads. You embrace the 'You Build It, You Run It' philosophy, owning your services in production and implementing observability to detect issues proactively. You are skilled in building microservices and event-driven architectures that are resilient, scalable, and maintainable, making critical decisions on communication and data consistency.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, is preferred. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows is a plus. You have a solid understanding of both relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL stores such as DynamoDB and MongoDB. Your knowledge of API craftsmanship allows you to build clean, efficient APIs that enhance user experience.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Yotpo, you will design and implement high-performance services that handle massive scale. Your mission is to ensure that our infrastructure can scale as fast as our customers do, translating complex business logic into robust architectural solutions. You will work within a product team to build the scalable, resilient engine that powers the Yotpo platform. You will design and build microservices and event-driven architectures, making critical decisions on synchronous vs. asynchronous communication and data consistency. You will manage the lifecycle of data across our platform, designing efficient database schemas and optimizing query performance to handle high-throughput workloads. Your role will also involve building clean, efficient APIs that enhance user experience and contribute to the overall success of the platform.
