Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician I, Mechanical II to support the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in data centers. You'll work with HVAC systems and ensure optimal facility conditions. This role requires 2 years of mechanical experience in an industrial environment.
You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of mechanical or HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in the requirements of maintaining mechanical systems. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and are familiar with safety equipment and guidelines. Your ability to work non-standard hours and shifts is a testament to your flexibility and commitment to the role.
You possess knowledge of mechanical systems used in data center environments, such as chillers, air handling units, pumps, and CRAC/CRAH units. Your experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants has equipped you with the skills necessary to manage uptime and maintenance of critical systems. You are comfortable communicating with contractors and have a strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Experience in the maintenance of mechanical or cooling distribution systems is preferred, as is familiarity with meters, devices, and sensors. Your background in a construction or technical environment will further enhance your ability to succeed in this role.
As a Data Center Facilities Technician I, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of Google's data centers. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, as well as HVAC and control systems. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.
You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Your role will require you to monitor and maintain the mechanical systems, ensuring that they meet the operational standards set by Google. You will work closely with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions that enhance the efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
