SpaceX is seeking a Principal RF Software Engineer to drive program-level decisions on RF system designs for the Starshield project. You'll collaborate with a team of engineers to develop RF capabilities for national security efforts. This role requires expertise in RF systems and related technologies.
You have extensive experience in RF software engineering, with a strong background in designing and implementing RF systems for large-scale applications. Your expertise includes working with DSP technologies and a variety of RF test equipment, such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers. You thrive in collaborative environments and are adept at driving program-level decisions that impact the development of innovative RF solutions.
You possess a deep understanding of RF system design principles and have a proven track record of researching and developing novel solutions for complex RF challenges. Your ability to automate RF test benches and validate custom RF designs is complemented by your experience in working with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers.
You are passionate about contributing to national security efforts and are excited about the opportunity to work on advanced development programs that leverage cutting-edge technology. Your strong analytical skills enable you to tackle unsolved problems and iterate rapidly to achieve operational capabilities.

As a Principal RF Software Engineer on the Starshield team, you will lead the design and development of RF capabilities that support national security initiatives. You will collaborate closely with RF engineers, DSP engineers, software engineers, and hardware engineers to create innovative solutions for proliferated communications and remote sensing in low earth orbit. Your responsibilities will include driving program-level decisions on RF system designs and researching novel solutions for unique large-scale satellite RF systems.
You will design, build, validate, and automate RF test benches to ensure full characterization of custom RF designs. This will involve using advanced RF test equipment, including vector network analyzers, vector signal generators, and spectrum analyzers. You will work in a fast-paced environment, applying the SpaceX mindset of rapid iteration to transition from design and demonstration to operational capability.
Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team culture that encourages innovation and problem-solving. You will be responsible for ensuring that all RF systems meet stringent performance and reliability standards, contributing to the overall success of the Starshield project.
