Google is hiring a Data Center Technician Intern to assist with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software in their data centers. You'll gain hands-on experience with Linux systems and networking concepts while collaborating with a global team in Inzai, Japan.
You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Engineering, or a similar technical area of study. You have experience with installing a network or Linux system, and you possess the ability to communicate in both English and Japanese to facilitate collaboration and communication globally. You are eager to learn new technical skills and domains, and you thrive in a team environment where you can collaborate with others to resolve challenges.
You have preferred qualifications that include experience with hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair. Your knowledge of networking, including topology and protocol concepts, will be beneficial in this role. You are a team player who is willing to contribute to projects in deployment and maintenance, providing support for data center infrastructure.
As a Data Center Technician Intern, you will be a key part of the Data Center team, gaining valuable experience by helping with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, including servers and their components. You will learn how to configure and manage network cabling, identify trends for machine failure, report bugs, and work with remote teams to resolve them. Your role will involve configuring and troubleshooting Linux OS-related challenges on our servers and resolving critical or escalated technical challenges over a significant population of affected equipment. You will contribute to projects that aim to make our data centers energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable, working alongside technicians, engineers, and support teams who design and maintain the complex technology infrastructure behind Google’s services.
