SpaceX is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Starlink project to solve complex structural and thermal problems in satellite design. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to contribute to the world's largest satellite constellation.
You have 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in the aerospace or satellite industry — you've tackled complex structural and thermal challenges and understand the intricacies of space-grade hardware. Your expertise in design tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks allows you to create detailed models and simulations that ensure the reliability of satellite components. You thrive in cross-functional teams, collaborating with electrical and software engineers to integrate various systems into a cohesive product. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, enabling you to oversee designs from ideation through to production.
Experience with satellite systems or aerospace applications is a plus — you understand the unique challenges of designing for space environments. Familiarity with thermal analysis tools and electromechanical systems will set you apart, as will any experience in large-scale production environments.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the design and development of satellite hardware, ensuring that each component meets rigorous performance and reliability standards. You will lead the mechanical design process, from initial concept through prototyping and testing, collaborating closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems. Your role will involve conducting structural and thermal analyses to validate designs, as well as participating in hands-on testing to troubleshoot and refine prototypes. You will also be involved in the manufacturing process, working with production teams to ensure that designs are feasible and cost-effective.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making space exploration a reality. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will directly impact the future of satellite technology and global internet access. Join us in our mission to democratize internet access and enable human life on Mars.
