Coupang is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to design and build next-generation Ad Infrastructure for Coupang Play. You'll work with Java and Spring, leveraging machine learning to enhance user experience. This role requires significant backend engineering experience.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You understand the intricacies of designing and deploying services, and you have a track record of debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep — you've successfully shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies. You are comfortable working with machine learning technologies, understanding how they can be applied to enhance user experiences in streaming services. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product and design teams to deliver exceptional storytelling through technology. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of the backend systems, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
