Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician II, Electrical to manage and maintain electrical systems in their data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This position requires 5+ years of electrical experience in a technical environment.
You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and you understand the importance of safety equipment and ergonomic guidelines. Your experience includes working non-standard hours and shifts, demonstrating your flexibility and commitment to the role.
You possess knowledge of electrical systems used in data center environments, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your familiarity with meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and digital metering showcases your technical proficiency. You are comfortable communicating with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on data center systems, ensuring smooth operations and collaboration.
Preferred qualifications include 5 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction/technical environment. Experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants is a plus, as is a strong understanding of electrical systems and their applications in critical environments.
In this role, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities of Google's data centers. You will manage the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. Your responsibilities will include responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, playing a key role in maintaining operational excellence.
You will conduct system tours to assess the working order of various systems and equipment, ensuring that all safety and operational standards are met. Your ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues will be essential in maintaining the reliability of the data center operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and upgrades to existing systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the data center.
