Overview

Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer focused on Systems Performance for Project Kuiper. You'll develop and optimize antenna calibration algorithms and work on machine-learned anomaly detection tools. This role requires expertise in AWS and Python.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software development, particularly in systems performance, with experience in designing and implementing complex algorithms. Your expertise in AWS allows you to efficiently scale applications and infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability. You are familiar with machine learning concepts and have worked on projects involving anomaly detection and predictive maintenance. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with applied scientists and engineers to solve technical challenges. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards. You are detail-oriented and take pride in owning the full software development lifecycle, from design to operational support.

Desirable

Experience with antenna calibration algorithms or satellite systems would be a plus. Familiarity with simulation tools and techniques for system-level performance analysis is also desirable. A background in developing automated remediation applications will set you apart. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art antenna calibration algorithms that are critical to the performance of Kuiper ground terminals. You will optimize these algorithms to ensure they operate efficiently under various conditions. Additionally, you will develop system-level simulations and supporting infrastructure on AWS, enabling high-velocity decision-making on a range of technical challenges. Collaborating with applied scientists and engineers, you will define, test, and implement machine-learned anomaly detection tools that enhance the Monitoring and Remediation System (MARS). You will own the full software development lifecycle for the applications you build, ensuring they are designed, tested, and deployed effectively. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of Kuiper's services, providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities.
