Job Description

The Senior Manager, Brazil Public Policy, will lead Amazon’s public policy team in Brazil, and will be responsible for developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon in the country. The Senior Manager will effectively educate key government officials and their staff on Amazon’s business in Brazil and on policy issues that impact our businesses, customers, and employees.

The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with business units, Legal, PR and other internal operations teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Senior Manager will facilitate high-level meetings for executives and business leaders with key policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in Brazil.

This position will report to the Director, Public Policy, and work closely with other public policy team members to execute on goals. The position will be based in São Paulo, Brazil.
- BA/BS required.
- At least 12 years of relevant public policy experience, working with the Brazilian government and public policy environment, and broad government relations strategy experience.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
- Law Degree or Master’s Degree.
- Experience working in or with multinational companies.
- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon’s business and a manager of complex regulatory and political issues.
- Expert understanding of Brazil’s legislative and regulatory policymaking processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging.
- High proficiency in oral and written communications in the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, legislative, regulatory agency, and other government levels.
- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity.
