Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented Associate Corporate Counsel to support Applied AI Solutions, a new business group in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Applied AI Solutions’ ambition is to become a partner which companies can rely on to run their business every day, putting AI to work delivering better customer experiences, operational excellence, and speed. This role will support existing services and new projects in the healthcare and life science space, including associated regulatory and compliance support.
The successful candidate has excellent communication and organizational skills. They are enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. They are able to prioritize, multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently. Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.
We hire attorneys with experience in a variety of practice areas, including (but not limited to) litigators, general corporate, mergers & acquisitions, technical transactions, intellectual property, telecommunications, real estate, products, regulatory compliance, and privacy. We don’t expect every applicant to have experience working with cloud computing, and we are looking for candidates who are willing to learn and develop alongside our team. Most importantly, we hire smart people of all backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders
- Work directly with business teams developing new products and services
- Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters, privacy, intellectual property, and go-to-market strategy
- Provide day-to-day input on business strategy
- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent
- In-house experience supporting product development
- Experience with U.S. healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, FDA, and CMS
- Experience with EHRs and/or supporting products that integrate with EHRs
- Experience with state healthcare regulations and/or state data privacy regulations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
