Vapi is seeking a Product Engineering Manager to lead a product engineering team, focusing on hiring, developing, and retaining exceptional engineers. You'll work closely with product and design to deliver on an ambitious roadmap in San Francisco.
You have a strong background in engineering management, with experience in building high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative environment. You will build relationships with your team, learning about their strengths, motivations, and any blockers they face. You will shadow existing workflows, including standups, planning sessions, and code reviews, to identify areas for improvement.
By the 60-day mark, you will take ownership of team health and delivery, ensuring that your team ships predictably and sustainably. You will establish engineering rituals that create clarity and foster a culture of accountability. You will begin to identify gaps in the team and work on sourcing candidates to raise the hiring bar. Additionally, you will focus on removing systemic blockers that have been affecting team velocity, whether they are related to processes, technical debt, or unclear ownership.
By the end of your first 90 days, your team will be operating smoothly, with engineers feeling empowered and engaged in their work. You will have successfully implemented changes that enhance team dynamics and productivity, setting the stage for continued growth and success.
