Google is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to focus on silicon quality and reliability. You'll leverage your expertise in reliability modeling, data analytics, and semiconductor technology to enhance product performance. This role requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and you have at least 5 years of experience with industry-standard tools and methodologies relevant to silicon-based ICs and chips. Your background includes significant experience in silicon quality or reliability, and you are familiar with reliability modeling, data analytics, and statistics. You have a strong understanding of production burn-in processes and silicon qualification test methods, along with knowledge of IC and packaging failure mechanisms. Your expertise extends to CMOS technology, semiconductor reliability, and high-volume manufacturing processes, making you proficient in IC/packaging failure mechanisms and failure analysis/verification techniques. You are knowledgeable about Design-for-Reliability (DfR) guidelines and implementation techniques, semiconductor device physics, and accelerated testing methodologies.
A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with 12 years of experience in silicon quality or reliability. Familiarity with material disposition, Material Review Board (MRB), and RMA analysis will set you apart. You are adept at identifying root causes of issues and developing effective solutions, and you have experience managing ongoing reliability monitoring activities, including reject validation and comprehensive data analysis.
In this role, you will be part of a team that pushes boundaries in developing custom silicon solutions that power Google's direct-to-consumer products. You will contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide, shaping the next generation of hardware experiences. Your responsibilities will include confirming failure symptoms and guiding failure analysis to verify root causes, while supporting fleet DPPM data collection, classification, and modeling. You will manage periodic ongoing reliability monitoring activities, ensuring that reject validation and comprehensive data analysis are conducted effectively. Your work will directly impact the performance, efficiency, and integration of Google's advanced data centers, which are recognized as the most advanced in the world.
