Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to manage the uptime and maintenance of electrical systems in their data center facilities. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This position requires 7 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 7 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, while adhering to safety and ergonomic guidelines. Your experience includes working non-standard hours and managing shifts effectively.

You possess a strong background in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems, ideally within data centers, hospitals, or power plants. Your knowledge encompasses various electrical systems used in data center environments, such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. You are skilled in using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques with standard hand tools and digital metering equipment.

Your communication skills enable you to effectively interact with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems. You are committed to ensuring the operational efficiency of sophisticated electrical engineering systems, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems within the data center.

Desirable

Experience in startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into existing facilities infrastructure is a plus. Familiarity with safety equipment and protocols is essential for maintaining a safe working environment.

What you'll do

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities of data center systems. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the uptime and maintenance of critical electrical systems, including UPS, generators, and electrical distribution networks. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.

You will support the startup and commissioning of new electrical equipment, integrating it into the existing infrastructure. Your role will involve assessing the working order of systems and managing maintenance tasks to prevent downtime. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all electrical systems meet operational standards and safety regulations.

Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise within the data center's electrical systems. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of system performance and maintenance activities, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the facilities team.
