Job Description

Are you ready to revolutionize the world's largest e-commerce ecosystem and reshape how billions of customers shop? Are you energized by the challenge of driving multi-billion dollar transformation programs that directly impact Amazon's bottom line while enhancing customer experience? Amazon is seeking Director of World Wide (WW) Business Acceleration and Optimization to spearhead our global Cost-to-Serve transformation initiative within the Retail Business Services (RBS) organization.

This role presents a unique opportunity to lead a large-scale transformation program across Amazon's global operations, managing senior leadership teams and driving systematic defect elimination through technological innovation, process excellence and policy definition. We are looking for a leader with proven experience in leading large-scale programs, demonstrating a tech-first approach and successful product implementations.

As part of the RBS team, the Business Acceleration and Optimizations team’s vision is to ensure all Amazon systems, process and policies are operating at peak efficiency to ensure that our Customer Experience is best-in-class delivered at the lowest cost. Our scope includes all countries where Amazon operates. To succeed with this vision, we systematically eliminate defects in upstream systems, including forecasting, purchase order management, inventory placement, and search. To accelerate and excel in our execution, we eliminate defects upstream, leverage scalable tech solutions to automate and optimize where elimination is not possible.

The successful candidate will shape the future of Amazon's operational excellence, defining how we leverage technology to eliminate defects, optimize processes, and create seamless customer experiences. Key job responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
• Develop and execute a multi-billion-dollar cost transformation strategy across key areas including inventory management, returns optimization, and shipping costs
• Lead the development and implementation of Amazon Defects platform as a centralized solution for defect identification and elimination
• Drive innovation in GenAI-based technologies for root cause analysis and defect elimination
Program Management & Execution
• Oversee multiple workstreams including inventory defects, returns management, shipping COGS, and variable operations costs
• Lead policy change decisions and coordinate with upstream teams for technological implementation
• Establish robust control mechanisms and metrics to track progress and ensure sustainable improvements
Stakeholder Management & Influence
• Partner with senior leadership to drive the Unified Defect Elimination (UDE) mechanism
• Build and maintain strong relationships across multiple business units to ensure aligned execution
• Lead through influence and drive accountability across diverse global teams
Innovation & Technical Leadership
• Champion the development of scalable technical solutions for defect elimination
• Drive the integration of advanced technologies including GenAI for defect identification and resolution
• Foster a tech-first mindset while maintaining customer-centricity
Leadership Impact
• Building high-performing teams in a competitive talent market
• Developing next-generation leaders
• Creating inclusive, innovative team cultures
• Defining policies that positively impact the entire Amazon customer base
• Influencing Amazon VPs and SVPs to drive outcomes

Amazon has reinvented how millions of people shop online. Retail Business Services (RBS) vision is to accelerate Amazon's flywheel by improving customer and brand experiences across worldwide Amazon stores and lowering the cost of doing business for Amazon. • Fulltime MBA or equivalent
• Minimum 10 + years in managing projects that require interacting with customers/stakeholders
• Hands on experience in Retail, eCommerce and supply chain functions
• Experience in complex cross-functional launches partnering with central teams

• Technical background preferred (B.Tech/B.E.)
• Familiarity or experience with autonomous systems and machine learning is a plus for this role.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project business cases.
• Demonstrated agility in thriving within fast-paced and innovative environments
• Experience in working with diverse set of team members, stakeholders and customers
