Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Regional Commissioning Lead to manage the testing and commissioning of new data centre capacity in Melbourne. You'll collaborate with various teams to ensure projects are delivered on scope, schedule, and budget.

Who you are

You have extensive experience in project management, particularly in the construction and commissioning of data centres. Your background includes working with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and operations personnel, to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. You possess strong leadership skills and can effectively manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

You are detail-oriented and have a proven track record of managing large-scale projects, demonstrating your ability to execute against scope, schedule, and budget. Your communication skills enable you to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You thrive in collaborative environments and are adept at problem-solving, ensuring that any challenges are addressed promptly and effectively.

Desirable

Experience in the technology sector, particularly with cloud services or data centre operations, is highly desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft’s standards and processes will be an advantage, as will any certifications in project management methodologies such as PMP or Agile.

What you'll do

As the Regional Commissioning Lead, you will oversee the commissioning process for new data centre projects in Melbourne, ensuring that all work is completed to Microsoft’s high standards. You will coordinate with various teams, including construction managers and network engineers, to streamline workflows and improve efficiency in data centre capacity delivery. Your role will involve managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing program management processes that enhance the commissioning workflow. This includes establishing metrics for success and continuously monitoring project performance to identify areas for improvement. You will also play a key role in mentoring and guiding project managers and virtual teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

In addition to managing local projects, you will support commissioning efforts across the APAC region, sharing best practices and lessons learned to enhance overall project delivery. Your expertise will contribute to the successful launch of new data centre technologies that power Microsoft’s online services, making a significant impact on the company’s operations and customer experience.
