Altium DesignerEagle

Overview

Astranis is hiring a PCB Layout Engineer to support the design and layout of high-reliability printed circuit boards for advanced satellites. You'll work closely with design engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable hardware for space applications.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in PCB layout engineering, with experience in high-reliability designs that meet stringent requirements. You are skilled in using tools like Altium Designer and Eagle, and you understand the complexities involved in interfacing with design engineers to gather board requirements and mechanical constraints. Your attention to detail ensures that you implement design for manufacturing (DFM) principles effectively, contributing to the production of reliable hardware for space applications.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working directly with cross-functional teams including design engineers and PCBA manufacturing teams. Your ability to communicate technical requirements clearly helps bridge the gap between design and production, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on project goals. You are committed to maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in your work, understanding the critical nature of the hardware you help produce.

Desirable

Experience with satellite communications or aerospace applications is a plus, as is familiarity with industry standards for PCB design and manufacturing. You are proactive in seeking out solutions to challenges that arise during the layout process, and you are always looking for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in your work.

What you'll do

As a PCB Layout Engineer at Astranis, you will be responsible for completing PCB layouts across various projects, supporting designs in payload, avionics, and power systems. You will interface directly with design engineers to gather board requirements and mechanical constraints, ensuring that these are accurately reflected in your layouts. Your role will involve placing and routing high-reliability PCB designs, taking into account the unique challenges presented by space applications.

You will also collaborate closely with the PCBA manufacturing team and external fabrication and assembly vendors to implement DFM practices. This will involve reviewing designs for manufacturability and reliability, making necessary adjustments to ensure that the hardware meets the rigorous standards required for space deployment. Your contributions will play a crucial role in the success of Astranis's satellite missions, as you help ensure that the hardware is not only functional but also robust enough to withstand the harsh conditions of space.

What we offer

At Astranis, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to expanding humanity's reach into the solar system through advanced satellite technology. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a collaborative environment that values diversity and inclusion, encouraging you to bring your unique perspective to the team. Join us in our mission to connect the world and everyone in it, regardless of gender, race, creed, or any other distinction.
