Overview

Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer for their Seller Fulfillment Services team to design and implement shipping management solutions. You'll work with Java and AWS to support millions of sellers globally. This role requires experience in building scalable systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in building scalable systems — you understand the complexities of developing applications that operate at massive scale and are highly available. You are proficient in Java and have a solid understanding of AWS services, which you have used to create robust applications. You are results-oriented and have a knack for identifying market needs and translating them into functional specifications. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver excellent customer experiences.

Desirable

Experience with APIs and backend systems is a plus, as is familiarity with shipping and logistics technologies. You are comfortable working with diverse and distributed devices, ensuring secure and efficient operations. You have a passion for leveraging data to improve processes and enhance user satisfaction. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies as needed to meet the demands of the role.

What you'll do

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and launching next-generation shipping management services that cater to a wide range of sellers on Amazon. You will collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define product objectives and plans, ensuring that the solutions you develop meet the needs of both individual sellers and high-volume enterprises. You will work on building systems, applications, and APIs that are not only functional but also scalable and secure.

You will engage in the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to deployment and monitoring. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and conducting code reviews to ensure quality and performance. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise in production, ensuring that our systems remain reliable and efficient.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the team. You will participate in design discussions and help shape the technical direction of the projects you work on. Your contributions will directly impact the satisfaction of our sellers and the performance of our business.

What we offer

At Amazon, you will be part of a rapidly growing team that values innovation and results. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional development and career advancement. You will work in a dynamic environment where your ideas are valued and you can make a significant impact on the business. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
