You are skilled in conducting mechanical analysis and testing, ensuring that your designs meet rigorous standards. You have experience with analytical and finite element modeling, which allows you to create robust designs that can withstand extreme conditions. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of tolerance analysis and failure analysis related to thermal loads, vibration, and shock.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineer on the Sensor Development team, you will be responsible for designing innovative sensor packages that are critical for the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars. You will develop sensor designs that can withstand the harsh conditions of launch and space environments, ensuring their reliability and functionality. Your role will involve building analytical and finite element thermal, structural, and fatigue models to validate your designs. You will create 3D models and production 2D drawings, completing tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability at high volumes. You will also interface with vendors and production teams to ensure that your designs can be manufactured efficiently. Additionally, you will conduct failure analysis of components, focusing on their performance under thermal loads, vibration, and shock. Your contributions will play a vital role in advancing SpaceX's technology and mission objectives.
