Legal Counsel

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Legal Counsel, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

Corporate Governance

• Ensure legal compliance of all entities with local corporate laws (e.g., GmbH, SARL, LLC, Free Zone entities)

• Advise on cross-border structuring, intercompany agreements, and M&A activity

• Liaise with external counsel and notaries for filings, incorporations, dissolutions and for the corporate records, board minutes, shareholder agreements, and legal registers

Regulatory & Operational Compliance

• Monitor and implement changes in national and international regulations (e.g., GDPR, space industry regulations)

• Develop and enforce internal compliance programs and training across jurisdictions

• Oversee data protection frameworks in the EU, UAE, and US (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)

• Coordinate internal audits and respond to regulatory inspections or inquiries

Risk Management & Ethics

• Lead internal investigations, whistleblower protocols, and compliance reviews

• Design and implement anti-corruption, anti-bribery, and ethical conduct policies

• Promote a culture of integrity and accountability across all business units

What we would love to see from you

In the role of Legal Counsel, ideally, you will have the following:

• 5+ years of experience in a company as a legal counsel in a law firm.

• Master degree in Business Law or similar masters.

• Startup or high-growth company experience, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, resource-constrained environment.

• Highly autonomous working style with minimal need for day-to-day management, and the seniority to operate as the primary point of contact for tier-one media and key stakeholders.

• Fluent in English; proficiency in French, German, or Italian is a strong plus.
