Upstart is seeking a Principal Application Security Engineer to enhance the security of their AI lending platform. You'll collaborate with engineering and product teams to implement robust security strategies. This role requires expertise in application security and a strong understanding of security frameworks.
You have a strong background in application security, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Your expertise includes working with engineering teams to integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle. You are familiar with OWASP guidelines and have a deep understanding of security vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy influencing security programs and policies. Your communication skills allow you to effectively convey security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike. You are passionate about creating secure systems and are eager to contribute to a mission-driven company like Upstart.
Experience with cloud security practices and tools is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as PCI-DSS or GDPR will be beneficial. You may also have experience in threat modeling and risk assessment methodologies, which will enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will work closely with Upstart’s engineering and product management teams to ensure that our product platform is secure, safe, and reliable. You will be responsible for conducting security assessments and audits, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending remediation strategies. You will also develop and implement security policies and procedures that align with industry best practices. As a key resource on the Security team, you will have the opportunity to influence the design of Upstart's security program and contribute to the overall security posture of the organization. You will stay updated on the latest security trends and threats, ensuring that Upstart remains proactive in its security efforts. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and help foster a culture of security awareness across the organization.
