You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of distributed systems. Your expertise in Java and Spring is deep, and you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, demonstrating strong opinions on service architecture and testing strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with developers, designers, and product owners to solve interesting e-commerce and supply chain problems. You are passionate about writing beautiful code and implementing solutions that enhance user experiences.

Desirable

Experience with microservices architecture is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies. You understand the importance of maintaining stable software solutions that keep distribution centers running efficiently. You are comfortable leading projects and mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and insights to foster a culture of learning and growth within the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at HelloFresh, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable back-end services, focusing on distributed architecture and microservices. You will lead the migration of critical systems, ensuring that our infrastructure supports the growing demands of our consumer-facing applications. Collaborating with a close-knit team, you will implement features that improve the user journey, making it easier for customers to buy amazing food. You will also be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code and conducting code reviews to uphold high standards of quality.

You will engage in problem-solving discussions with your team, leveraging your experience to tackle bold challenges and drive innovation. You will participate in agile ceremonies, providing input on sprint planning and retrospectives to continuously improve our processes.
