Job Description

Amazon is looking for a smart, motivated, and self-driven Supply Chain Manager to join our Global Direct Imports team for emerging countries as an Instock Manager. The Instock Manager will be responsible for driving purchasing, inventory planning and forecasting for multiple countries through Direct Import Supply Chains. Additionally, you will drive initiatives to improve customer experience by working collaboratively across Retail, supply chain and operations. The ideal candidate will excel in scalable process improvement, analytics, written/verbal communication and be customer obsessed. The candidate will have proven experience delivering results by partnering with others and be comfortable leading and contributing across a range of topic outside of the core ISM responsibilities.

Direct Imports is a strategic initiative for Amazon with long-term business impact and triple digit growth YoY. This individual will partner with various teams across Amazon (Operations, Global Logistics, Supply Chain Technology, Retail and Finance teams) as well as external partners to support critical new business initiatives and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of our program.

The successful candidate is an innovator, communicator, influencer and problem solver who works well in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting. This candidate demonstrates a strong technical skillset, taking data-driven approach to solve complex problems across our Imports supply chain. The position provides opportunities to influence high visibility/impact areas throughout the organization.

The successful candidate possesses superb business judgment, with a track record of strong project delivery and relationship management, deep analytical acumen, with experience generating and managing forecasts, reports, and analyses. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a fast paced, highly demanding and often ambiguous environment. Since this position involves working with multiple stakeholders around the world we need someone with strong stakeholder management capabilities with bias for action in getting things done.


Key job responsibilities
- Manage availability and inventory health including: improved in-stock rates, inventory planning, vendor lead time, fill rate, unhealthy inventory and forecast accuracy for import selection.
- Driving meaningful data driven solutions to solve complex supply chain problems
- Create and run buying/forecasting scenarios and enable better buying decisions to ensure continuous improvement in the buying process
- Drive some automation programs for Imports on emerging countries, including all relevant system developments.
- Step changing the vendors’ operational performance by acting as their internal consultant on forecasting/buying/operations domain
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior leaders of partnered vendors to grow and optimize the joint import business.

A day in the life
Your core responsibilities will include monitoring inventory health and adjusting buying/forecasting accordingly. You will also work with stakeholders in Canada, US, Mexico and MENA taking inputs and pivoting priorities based on business needs.

About the team
Global Purchasing works with emerging countries to buy directly from origin and import. Our vision is to supply customers in the world with the best selection and price. We are a business that is still growing and inventing. - 5+ years of with Excel experience
- 5+ years of supply chain, inventory management or project management experience
- Bachelor's degree or certificate of completion of studies is required.
- Fluency in both, English and Spanish
- Advanced analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions- Knowledge of the principles of statistical inventory control
- Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
- Experience working with complex data sets and proficiency in SQL
- Excellent business judgement, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
- Ability to operate both strategically and operationally
- High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple priorities and committed to getting things done
- Strong data extraction, analytical and problem solving skills
