Senior Software Engineer, Observability

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have tackled complex distributed systems issues. You are a backend engineer with a willingness to take on frontend tasks or a full-stack developer with a bias towards backend. You have written backend systems in a compiled language such as Java, C#, or Go, and have experience with the design and architecture of modern, scalable web applications. You enjoy collaboration and being part of a team, and you are approachable, curious, and intellectually honest. You thrive on chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment and are eager to leverage technologies developed by others within Observability and across MongoDB.

Desirable

Experience with MongoDB is a plus, as is familiarity with customer-facing UIs and APIs. A strong understanding of database performance and efficiency will help you excel in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Customer Observability Team, you will be responsible for developing tools that help users understand the health and performance of their MongoDB deployments. You will work on a variety of APIs and customer-facing UIs, empowering MongoDB users to view and interact with their stored data. Your role will involve rebuilding and enhancing core diagnostic products, ensuring they meet the needs of users managing MongoDB at a global scale. You will collaborate closely with other engineers and teams to deliver high-quality solutions that improve database speed and efficiency. You will also participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
