We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our growing team! This position requires influencing across multiple teams, businesses, and senior leaders. The role requires a deep understanding of customer needs and thinking big about how we can make the purchase experience across online retail seamless and delightful. The ideal candidate is excited by technology, passionate about learning and should view every customer interaction as an opportunity to create an exceptional experience. You will need to be entrepreneurial, and work in a highly collaborative environment. You have a track record of exceptional performance and love working in a dynamic, ambiguous, fast-paced environment in which managing multiple projects and priorities is the norm. You dive deep and like the complexity of systems but drive simple, innovative solutions for customer-facing experiences. You have excellent judgment and high standards. You are an articulate, persuasive communicator and a good writer.
Key job responsibilities
* Partner with Project Sponsors and development teams to deliver complex cross-functional projects
* Leverage deep knowledge of the core system technologies and broad understanding of company systems/technologies to drive design for the programs you own
* Create and execute detailed roadmaps, defining user stories and researching technical solutions
* Provide clear communication to management and stakeholders on project status and plans
* Guide software development teams on architecture, design, and priorities
* Build relationships across Amazon to leverage existing technologies and promote team initiatives
* Manage risk assessment, escalations, and trade-offs between business needs and constraints
* Maintain effective project documentation and stakeholder communications- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
