Overview

SpaceX is hiring an Automation & Controls Engineer for the Starship Launch Pad to design and build control systems for launch infrastructure. You'll work with PLCs and data acquisition systems in Cape Canaveral.

Who you are

You are a systems-focused, automation-driven engineer with a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems. You have experience in designing and integrating control systems, particularly in high-stakes environments like aerospace. Your ability to interpret and manage real-time data from various sensors is crucial for operational success. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and safety of launch operations. You understand the importance of maintaining operational capability for control voltage levels and are adept at troubleshooting complex systems. You are committed to continuous improvement and innovation in automation and controls engineering.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and build the controls infrastructure necessary for the ground support equipment that tests and launches the Starship Launch Vehicle. You will maintain the operational capability of all control voltage levels electrical systems once activated, ensuring they function reliably during critical operations. Your responsibilities will include developing and upgrading data acquisition and control systems across the launch pad, integrating various physical hardware components such as wire harnesses, PCBs, and avionics systems. You will collaborate with pad operators and engineers to ensure accurate data transference and interpretation, which is vital for safe and economical access to space. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems to enhance performance and reliability.
