Consulting Engineer

Who you are

You have over 8 years of experience in software development, consulting, or technical support, ideally across various industries. Your proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby, or Go sets you apart. You possess hands-on experience with databases like MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, which allows you to tackle diverse technical challenges effectively.

Your understanding of Linux diagnostics and tuning, along with any experience in Windows tuning, enhances your ability to optimize systems. You have a solid grasp of enterprise-scale software architecture, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations, which equips you to contribute meaningfully to client projects.

You are motivated by the combination of deep technical skills and customer management capabilities, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can confidently present and communicate with clients. You are adaptable and willing to travel frequently to client sites during the week, embracing the dynamic nature of consulting work.

Desirable

Experience in multiple industries or verticals is preferred, as it broadens your perspective and enhances your problem-solving capabilities. Familiarity with application lifecycle stages, from portfolio assessment to application planning and design, deployment architecture, and production operations, will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will contribute to client projects across various stages of the application lifecycle, including portfolio assessment, application planning and design, deployment architecture, development and build, integration and release configuration, system testing, production operations, and application optimization. You will also provide classroom-based training to clients, targeting architects, developers, and operations personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to utilize MongoDB effectively.

As part of an extended delivery team, you will collaborate with other consulting engineers, project managers, and account teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Building a personal brand as a trusted advisor will be essential, guiding both MongoDB and clients towards future success. You will also work closely with Product and Engineering teams to influence the direction of the MongoDB product roadmap, ensuring that client needs are met and exceeded.
