Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As the HW Production Support Engineer, you will enable the successful delivery of the satellite RF hardware into the Kuiper satellite integration line. Consequently, you will work with the hardware engineering team and the production teams. This position requires a technical understanding of functions of the RF hardware and strong lab and test skills. You must be able to work effectively cross-functionally with multiple disciplines.

In this role you will:
• Troubleshoot non-performing flight RF hardware units, determine next steps, and lead the resolution plan to full completion
• Work closely with the test engineering team to improve test stability, reduce test time and guaranty the quality of the measurement data.
• Implement design changes to hardware to improve unit performance going forward
• Track performance trends of units in high volume space production line
• Work closely with production manufacturing engineering to improve process flow and reduce test errors or workmanship errors.
• Work closely with the quality and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure high quality space flight hardware
• Troubleshoot and repair circuits and fixtures.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Key job responsibilities
• Will work cross-functionally on collaboration to fluently engage with diverse engineering disciplines, effectively advocate for RF hardware in production, and ensure alignment of stakeholders for overall production rate.
• Experience coordinating amongst diverse disciplines (software, production, reliability) to drive full-lifecycle system development
• Experience with SW communication to RF/ microwave test equipment.
• Experience with troubleshooting Linux-based failed units.
• Experience with Python scripting for the purpose of test and validation.
• Support manufacturing engineers on production testing of RF avionics components and systems
• Support testing engineering on test methods, efficiencies, and accuracy
• Track various KPIs from production and production testing and communicate regularly with management.
• Suggest process improvement measures based on regular tracking of KPIs.
• Architect and build automation to support development (CI/CD)
• Align with various stakeholders on software requirements
• Document software requirements from users
• Support manufacturing as well as new product development
• Enable automated data collection, data analysis
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or related discipline, or 3+ years of equivalent relevant experience
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience coordinating amongst diverse disciplines (software, production, reliability) to drive full-lifecycle system development
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience programming in Python
- Ability to plan, direct, and manage project work.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent math aptitude, written and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Master's degree or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.
- High volume production experience
- Comfortable communicating deeply technical topics to a wide variety of audiences
- Ability to lead projects across departments, create and maintain project schedules, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Technical leadership skills and communication skills, ability to create clarity across technical stakeholder and customer teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
