We are seeking a Software Development Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience developing object-oriented software and/or automation frameworks and automated tests, possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings.

This is a hands-on position where you will be involved in everything from design to delivery of tools to support the platform and design of Amazon robotic fulfillment operations. As a software development engineer, you will be accountable for driving the technical direction of a complex software system. You will be working with a cross-functional team to prototype, design, and develop software solutions that span local, service oriented and cloud-based systems.



Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate is passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new and foundational products and features. A commitment to teamwork and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance software products requires technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of computer science and software engineering, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has delivered high-quality technology products/services in a high-growth environment.

- Helping to drive the automation testing strategy throughout the engineering organization
- Developing automation test frameworks and automated functional tests to provide end-to-end smoke and regression test coverage
- Triaging test failures and producing triaging reports
- Writing system and feature-based test plans from functional specifications
- Executing complex test plans with an understanding of how to build new coverage into the existing automation test suite.
- Working with development organizations to understand how development changes affect ongoing test automation efforts
- Gathering metrics and providing test coverage analysis based on automated test results

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience building and designing test cases
- Experience with testing methodologies (Junit)- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience developing automated tests of service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications
- Knowledge of scripting languages (bash, python, etc.)
- Experience using Java unit testing environments (Junit, TestNG)
