Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician II, Electrical to manage and maintain electrical systems in their data centers. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 5+ years of electrical experience in a technical environment.
You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are well-versed in electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and are familiar with OSHA standard safety equipment. Your ability to work non-standard hours and shifts is a testament to your flexibility and commitment to the role.
Your preferred qualifications include 5 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction/technical environment. You have a solid understanding of data center operations, having worked in environments such as hospitals or power plants. Your knowledge extends to meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques using standard hand tools and digital metering equipment.
You possess a strong understanding of electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. Your communication skills enable you to effectively interact with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to safety standards.
As a Data Center Facilities Technician II, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of Google's data centers. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and electrical distribution. You will be tasked with responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally.
You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Your role will require you to assess the working order of various systems and implement necessary maintenance procedures to uphold the highest standards of operational efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all electrical systems are compliant with safety regulations and operational protocols.
