Apple is hiring an RTL Design Engineer to work on complex GPU-related projects. You'll collaborate with architecture, verification, and physical design teams to deliver high-quality graphics IP. This role requires expertise in C, C++, and Linux.
You have a strong background in RTL design and a deep understanding of GPU architecture — your experience includes working on large-scale projects where you have implemented micro-architectural specifications and collaborated with cross-functional teams. You are proficient in C and C++, and you have a solid grasp of Linux environments, which allows you to navigate complex design challenges effectively. Your analytical skills enable you to review synthesis and power reports, identifying and resolving timing and power issues to ensure optimal quality of results throughout your design process.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with verification teams to ensure that designs behave as intended — your attention to detail and commitment to quality drive you to test thoroughly and address potential issues early in the design phase. You are also familiar with OpenGL, which enhances your ability to contribute to graphics-related projects and understand the intricacies of rendering and performance optimization.
Experience with cutting-edge technology nodes and a passion for energy efficiency, performance, and area constraints will set you apart — you understand the balance between project schedules and maintainability, and you are eager to apply your knowledge to innovate within the GPU design space. Familiarity with simulation and debugging tools will further enhance your contributions to the team.
As an RTL Design Engineer at Apple, you will be at the forefront of GPU design, working on complex projects that push the boundaries of technology. You will implement micro-architectures targeting advanced technology nodes, ensuring that your designs meet performance, feature, timing, area, and power goals. Your role will involve close collaboration with graphics architecture, functional verification, and physical design teams to deliver high-quality graphics IP.
You will refine GPU micro-architectural specifications and work with other designers to identify potential issues early in the design process — this proactive approach will help you maintain the highest standards of quality and performance. As your design approaches functional completion, you will engage with the verification team to ensure thorough testing and validation of your work, addressing any issues that arise during this critical phase.
Once your design is integrated into the overall system, you will be responsible for simulating and debugging issues both within and around your design — your ability to troubleshoot effectively will be essential in maintaining the integrity and performance of the final product. You will also review synthesis and power reports regularly, using your expertise to root-cause and resolve any timing and power issues that may arise.
At Apple, you will be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration — you will have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, contributing to products that redefine entire industries. We offer a dynamic work environment where your ideas can flourish and where you can make a meaningful impact on the future of technology. You will have access to cutting-edge tools and resources that will enable you to excel in your role and grow your career.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we believe that diverse teams build better products, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Join us at Apple and be part of a team that is dedicated to leaving the world better than we found it.
