RTL Design Engineer

Who you are

You have a strong background in RTL design and a deep understanding of GPU architecture — your experience includes working on large-scale projects where you have implemented micro-architectural specifications and collaborated with cross-functional teams. You are proficient in C and C++, and you have a solid grasp of Linux environments, which allows you to navigate complex design challenges effectively. Your analytical skills enable you to review synthesis and power reports, identifying and resolving timing and power issues to ensure optimal quality of results throughout your design process.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with verification teams to ensure that designs behave as intended — your attention to detail and commitment to quality drive you to test thoroughly and address potential issues early in the design phase. You are also familiar with OpenGL, which enhances your ability to contribute to graphics-related projects and understand the intricacies of rendering and performance optimization.

What you'll do

As an RTL Design Engineer at Apple, you will be at the forefront of GPU design, working on complex projects that push the boundaries of technology. You will implement micro-architectures targeting advanced technology nodes, ensuring that your designs meet performance, feature, timing, area, and power goals. Your role will involve close collaboration with graphics architecture, functional verification, and physical design teams to deliver high-quality graphics IP.

You will refine GPU micro-architectural specifications and work with other designers to identify potential issues early in the design process — this proactive approach will help you maintain the highest standards of quality and performance. As your design approaches functional completion, you will engage with the verification team to ensure thorough testing and validation of your work, addressing any issues that arise during this critical phase.

Once your design is integrated into the overall system, you will be responsible for simulating and debugging issues both within and around your design — your ability to troubleshoot effectively will be essential in maintaining the integrity and performance of the final product. You will also review synthesis and power reports regularly, using your expertise to root-cause and resolve any timing and power issues that may arise.
