Senior Cloud Security Engineer (Viator)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering, with a strong focus on protecting cloud environments and customer data. Your expertise in AWS allows you to navigate and secure cloud infrastructures effectively, ensuring that security measures are robust and proactive. You are proficient in at least one scripting language, such as Python or Bash, which you use to automate security operations and streamline incident response processes. Your understanding of web application vulnerabilities, particularly those outlined in the OWASP Top 10, equips you to defend against common threats and enhance application security.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with engineering teams to build resilient platforms. Your hands-on approach means you are comfortable monitoring security alerts, analyzing incidents, and leading responses from detection to remediation. You are detail-oriented and analytical, capable of investigating security incidents thoroughly and conducting post-mortems to improve future responses. You are passionate about security and continuously seek to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.

Desirable

Experience with security tooling such as WAF and SIEM is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud-native security tools. You may also have a background in incident response and a track record of successfully managing security incidents in a cloud environment.

What you'll do

As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer at Viator, you will be the first line of defense for our platform, ensuring that our infrastructure and customer data are secure. You will monitor, analyze, and investigate security alerts originating from our AWS infrastructure, application logs, and security tooling. Your role will involve leading the response to security incidents, from initial detection and analysis to containment, remediation, and post-mortem analysis. You will work closely with engineering teams to implement security best practices and enhance the overall security posture of our platform.

You will leverage your scripting skills to automate security operations and analysis tasks, making processes more efficient and effective. Your understanding of application security fundamentals will guide you in defending against common web application vulnerabilities, ensuring that our products remain secure against emerging threats. You will also contribute to the development of security policies and procedures, helping to foster a culture of security awareness within the organization.
