Airtable is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for their Observability team to architect and scale core observability systems. You'll work with technologies like OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse, and the ELK stack. This position requires experience in building resilient systems at scale.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building observability systems that empower engineers to monitor and debug applications effectively. Your background includes designing and implementing logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines that handle massive data volumes, ensuring performance and reliability across systems. You are well-versed in evaluating and integrating new technologies that enhance observability, such as OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse, and the ELK stack. You possess strong leadership skills and have experience guiding and mentoring teams, sharing best practices in distributed tracing, monitoring, and logging. You are committed to defining and upholding coding standards and operational excellence across the organization, ensuring that all engineering practices align with industry best practices.
Experience with LLM observability for AI-powered features is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to the evolution of observability practices within the organization.
In this role, you will architect and scale core observability systems that provide actionable insights into errors and crashes, enhancing the reliability of Airtable's infrastructure. You will lead the design and evolution of logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines, ensuring they can handle the massive data volumes generated by Airtable's applications. You will evaluate and integrate new technologies that enhance Airtable's observability posture, working closely with other engineering teams to ensure they have the tools they need to measure performance and monitor reliability. You will guide and mentor a growing team of infrastructure engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of operational excellence. You will partner with deployment teams to ensure that observability is integrated into the deployment process, enabling real-time monitoring and debugging capabilities.
