You have a strong background in backend engineering with experience in building production systems that prioritize safety and user experience. You are skilled in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you understand the importance of writing well-crafted, maintainable code that meets business needs. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product, mobile engineering, data science, design, and operations teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are familiar with REST APIs and have experience in deploying and maintaining software products in a production environment. You are detail-oriented and can incorporate considerations for business context and potential failure modes in your work. You enjoy participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team.
Experience with telematics or safety-related technologies would be a plus, as well as familiarity with data-driven decision-making processes. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the safety and affordability of Lyft's services. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and are eager to contribute to a mission-driven team.
As a Backend Engineer on the Road Safety Team, you will design, develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain various components of Lyft's Road Safety Product suite. You will be responsible for building impactful user-facing products that leverage ride-level insights to enhance safety for passengers and drivers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to iterate quickly on product features, ensuring that safety remains a top priority.
