AWS Financial Technology Team is looking for a results-oriented, innovative software development engineer, who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable financial systems. A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon works on real world problems on a global scale, owns their systems end to end and influences the direction of our technology that impacts hundreds of millions of customers around the world. You can expect to design flexible scalable, and complex solutions in large-scale computing by utilizing your skills in data structures, algorithms, and object oriented programming. Key job responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable financial applications that support AWS infrastructure asset tracking from creation to disposition
- Work on the full asset lifecycle automation including Asset Create, Construction In Progress (CIP) to In Service, Cost Adjustments, Transfer of Assets, and Retirements
- Build and maintain systems that serve as the single source of truth for AWS Infrastructure fixed asset details and substantiate the Accounting General Ledger
- Financial Automation & Process Improvement
- Develop automation solutions to reduce manual effort in financial processes
- Implement Month End Close Reconciliation (MEC) automation to detect anomalies and reduce month-end closing issues
- AI Agent Development & Integration
- Design and implement AI agents as the primary interface for Infrastructure Capex Actuals, replacing traditional dashboard interactions
- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with AFS systems to enable intelligent data retrieval and analysis
- Replace custom data pipelines and BIE dashboards with natural language processing capabilities that can interpret and execute financial queries
- Build NLP systems that can understand complex financial terminology and translate business questions into appropriate data operations
- Develop voice and text interfaces for asset tracking, allowing users to ask questions like "Show me all assets in construction phase for Q4 2025" or "What's the depreciation impact of retiring servers in us-east-1?"- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
