Data Architect

This role blends the rigor of enterprise data architecture and governance with the energy of consulting and solution-building. You’ll work with clients across industries to build robust data platforms, define standards, and implement governance frameworks that create lasting value.

Please be advised that this role is required to be located in the Melbourne, Australia InterWorks office. Remote work or telecommuting arrangements outside of this jurisdiction are not permissible for this position.

Salary range commensurate with experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and implement enterprise-level data solutions that align with business goals and compliance requirements.
• Design and optimize data models, storage solutions, and integration pipelines across various platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
• Partner directly with clients to develop scalable data platforms, data governance frameworks, and analytics strategies.
• Create and oversee ETL/ELT processes and advise on best practices for data quality, security, and accessibility.
• Serve as a strategic liaison between business and IT to bridge gaps and ensure alignment.
• Manage project timelines, expectations, and deliverables with clear communication and strong stakeholder engagement.

What You’ll Need

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related field
• High proficiency in SQL and strong data modeling skills
• Experience in data governance, compliance standards, and enterprise data strategy
• Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal
• Ability to thrive in client-facing environments and lead cross-functional teams
• Adaptability and problem-solving mindset in fast-paced and ambiguous situations
• Proven experience with data lakehouse architecture including the storage and processing of semi-structured and unstructured file types
• Proven support for data science initiatives
• Understanding of pipeline and cost monitoring and optimisation
• Comfortable leading business engagements to source requirements or refine data models
• Experience with Azure & AWS CSP's preferable

 What We’d Like You to Have

• Experience with BI and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Familiarity with modern data warehouses and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks)
• ETL tool experience (e.g., dbt, Matillion, Informatica, Fivetran)
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their role in data platforms
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (preferred)
