Overview

Databricks is seeking a Senior Product Manager for Data Governance to lead the development of governance and security capabilities for Unity Catalog. This role involves engaging with enterprise customers and coordinating product activities from vision to implementation.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in product management, ideally with a focus on data governance or related fields — you understand the complexities of managing data assets and the importance of compliance and security in data management. Your background includes working closely with engineering teams to translate customer needs into actionable product features, ensuring that the products you manage meet both user expectations and business goals.

You possess strong analytical skills and are comfortable using data to drive decisions — you can define metrics that matter and use them to evaluate product performance and inform future strategies. Your experience includes engaging with large enterprise customers to gather insights and feedback, which you leverage to shape product roadmaps and prioritize features effectively.

You are a natural communicator and collaborator — you thrive in cross-functional environments, working with stakeholders from engineering, sales, and marketing to ensure alignment and success of product initiatives. You have a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating your ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.

You are passionate about data and AI technologies — you stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and you are eager to apply this knowledge to enhance the governance capabilities of data platforms. You understand the importance of user experience and are committed to designing intuitive and effective solutions that empower users to manage their data assets effectively.

Desirable

Experience with data governance frameworks and compliance standards is a plus — you understand the regulatory landscape and can navigate the challenges associated with data privacy and security. Familiarity with data management tools and platforms, particularly in the context of AI and machine learning, will help you succeed in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Product Manager at Databricks, you will lead the development of Unity Catalog's governance and security capabilities — your role will involve defining the product vision and strategy, ensuring that it aligns with customer needs and market demands. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate product requirements into actionable development tasks, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from conception to launch.

You will engage with enterprise customers to understand their data governance challenges and gather feedback on existing features — this customer-centric approach will inform your decisions and help prioritize enhancements that deliver real value. You will also work with internal stakeholders to coordinate product launches and ensure that all teams are aligned on messaging and go-to-market strategies.

Your responsibilities will include defining and tracking key performance indicators for product success — you will analyze data to assess the impact of new features and iterate on the product based on user feedback and performance metrics. You will also be responsible for conducting competitive analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation in the market.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of data governance at Databricks — your contributions will directly impact how customers manage their data assets and ensure compliance with industry standards. You will work in a collaborative environment that values creativity and innovation, allowing you to bring your ideas to life and make a meaningful impact on the organization.

What we offer

Databricks offers a dynamic work environment where you can grow your career while making a significant impact in the data and AI space. You will have access to cutting-edge technologies and the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about solving complex problems. We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional development and career advancement. Join us in our mission to empower data teams and drive innovation in the industry.
