Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Critical Lift & Transport Technician to manage the movement of Falcon 9 stages and associated ground support equipment. You'll perform preventative maintenance and utilize heavy machinery in Cape Canaveral.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience working with heavy machinery, including forklifts and cranes, and understand the importance of preventative maintenance to ensure operational efficiency. You are detail-oriented and capable of evaluating in-transit risks, providing on-site solutions to alleviate potential issues. Your ability to work collaboratively with a team of technicians and engineers is essential, as you will be responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards in transport systems and equipment.

You are proactive in organizing and procuring tools necessary for offloading and packing flight hardware. Your experience includes developing and documenting work instructions to ensure efficient packaging processes. You are comfortable performing route surveys prior to scheduled hardware moves, making recommendations to optimize transport logistics.

Desirable

Experience in aerospace or similar industries is a plus, as is familiarity with ground support equipment (GSE) and shipping fixtures. You may have a background in logistics or operations, which will enhance your ability to manage the complexities of flight hardware transport.

What you'll do

As a Critical Lift & Transport Technician at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the movement of Falcon 9 stages, payloads, and Dragon capsules across Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center launch sites. Your role will involve performing preventative maintenance on mobile cranes and other heavy machinery to ensure they are in optimal working condition. You will work closely with a team to maintain transport systems and equipment, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.

You will utilize heavy machinery to lift and move flight hardware after delivery and prior to shipping. This includes evaluating in-transit risks and providing solutions, such as planning routes and coordinating escorts across launch sites. Your responsibilities will also include packing and organizing shipping fixtures and associated hardware for return to their respective shipping sites.

In addition, you will be tasked with maintaining tools needed for offloading and packing flight hardware, as well as developing and coordinating work instructions with the management team. Your ability to perform route surveys prior to scheduled hardware moves will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations.
