Job Description

Passionate about books and reading? The Books Discovery & Recommendations Experience team is transforming how millions of customers discover and engage with books across Amazon. We are seeking a Principal Product Manager - Tech to define and drive the long-term strategic vision for books discovery on Amazon. This role will lead innovation and set a unified product direction to create discovery experiences that delight customers whether they're actively seeking books or browsing Amazon.

In this strategic leadership role, you will define the long-term product and CX vision for Amazon's book discovery experiences, creating innovate solutions that bridge experiences across multiple surfaces and leverage ML capabilities at global scale. You'll be responsible for defining multi-year strategies that enable step-function improvements in the customer experience and drive discovery-based business growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong product vision and customer obsession, with a proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries and synthesize complex inputs from multiple stakeholders. You will serve as a thought leader in discovery strategy, champion the voice of the customer, and be looked to as an authority in building customer-centric discovery experiences at scale.

Key job responsibilities
• Define and drive the multi-year, cross-team strategic vision and strategy for Books' discovery and recommendation products and systems
• Develop comprehensive product strategy to optimize Books discovery for customers across Amazon; optimize Books discovery funnels and partner with central teams to include Books in Amazon discovery features
• Lead strategic product initiatives that span multiple teams and technical domains, driving consistency and optimization in how customers discover and engage with book content
• Define and establish overarching success metrics and objective functions for Books discovery that align with Amazon's broader business goals
• Identify and prioritize key opportunities to grow organic book discovery and improve customer engagement through innovative CX solutions
• Partner with science and engineering teams on architectural decisions and technical requirements for Amazon-wide data optimization systems
• Invent and incubate new discovery product concepts that delight customers, drive engagement with books, and expand reach beyond traditional book-centric touchpoints
• Drive experimentation and creation of robust measurement systems to continuously improve discovery experiences
• Mentor product managers and technical leaders on both technical implementation and effective measurement practices
• Drive cross-organizational alignment on strategic initiatives, success metrics, and technical architecture- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience technical product management- Deep expertise in recommendation systems, ML platforms, and distributed systems
- Experience leading technical strategy and architectural decisions for complex platforms
- Track record of delivering enterprise-scale technical products through multiple teams
- Experience defining and implementing measurement frameworks for ML-driven products
- Excellence in product strategy and ability to balance customer, technical, and business needs
- Demonstrated success leading through influence across multiple senior stakeholder groups
- Experience managing and developing technical product managers
- Experience influencing VP-level decisions on technical strategy and investments
- 10+ years of technical product or program management experience
- MBA preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
