Overview

Duolingo is hiring an Illustrator Intern to work on challenging illustration projects while developing technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship. This role requires experience with creative software such as Figma and Photoshop.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a second-year undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date of May 2028 or December 2027. You have completed at least two college-level design courses, showcasing your foundational knowledge in illustration and design principles. You possess a portfolio of relevant projects that demonstrates your skills and creativity in illustration. You are eager to learn and grow, ready to embrace the limitless opportunities for development that this internship offers.

You have experience illustrating in creative software such as Figma and Photoshop, which are essential tools for your work. Your familiarity with these programs allows you to create compelling visuals that align with Duolingo's mission of making education universally available. You are excited about collaborating with others who share your passion for education and creativity, and you thrive in both independent and group settings.

What you'll do

As an Illustrator Intern at Duolingo, you will work independently and in small groups to complete challenging illustration projects that contribute to the company's mission. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills through hands-on training, workshops, and lectures from experienced Duolingo artists. This internship will provide you with coaching and mentorship from a Duolingo Studio Artist, allowing you to refine your craft and gain valuable insights into the industry.

You will partner with other interns and team members who are equally passionate about education and illustration, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish. Your work will directly impact the educational materials and experiences that Duolingo provides to its users, making your contributions meaningful and rewarding. You will engage in daily collaborations with world-class minds, learning from their expertise while sharing your own perspectives and ideas.
