Job Description

Amazon is seeking a Finance Transformation Manager to join the Global Finance Transformation team responsible for process optimization and automation initiatives across the Accounting organization. With the rapid growth of the company, it is essential to make continued investments in process improvement, automation, and technology. This role will have a globally impacting scope and will partner with the world-wide Accounting teams and technical partners. A successful candidate in this position will have experience in project management and accounting automation, an aptitude for technology, internal controls and process design.

This position supports and can directly influence the implementation of accounting technology automation solutions to drive process improvement, reduce manual effort, and improve financial controllership. It requires the ability to interpret accounting requirements and transform those to a technical solution with the support of technical partners. The Finance Transformation Manager will collaborate with a broad group of stakeholders from accounting, business, finance and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions to complex problems.

The candidate will benefit from having operated successfully in a fast-paced global organization. Strong prioritization and communication skills are required in representing the accounting organization’s responsibility of financial controllership to internal stakeholders from non-financial disciplines. Practical project management experience is required, along with demonstrable exposure to leading and delivering on technical projects.

The role offers the opportunity to participate in influencing innovative business and accounting opportunities and to work closely with experienced cross-functional partners. As a member of the team, this individual will also have access to internal training and coaching opportunities to further develop the skills required to excel as a Finance Transformation Manager in the organization.

Key job responsibilities
• Interact with Project Sponsors, Project Stakeholders and multiple accounting and technical teams to define and deliver solutions to complex challenges
• Drive multiple projects to completion across many organizations and teams
• Streamline program delivery across the accounting organization by standardizing project communications, execution and documentation, ensuring consistent, scalable global processes
• Communicate project issues and status in a concise, accurate, and professional manner
• Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for internal/external dependencies, numerous constraints and consideration of risk while still showing bias for action
• Remain flexible to changing priorities, open to new ideas and have Amazon's success firmly in your focus
• Potential international travel up to ~10%

A day in the life
This role will work with project SME’s, multiple IT teams and Accounting and Compliance stakeholders. Day to day activities will look like as follows:
- Defining and refining Customer requirements
- Project Management of multiple projects simultaneously
- Strategic program planning
- Communication of program updates to relevant stakeholders

About the team
We are a Global Finance Transformation Program working across the Amazon Accounting team. Our goal is to improve our accounting colleagues experience while accelerating financial close, driving compliance and increasing efficiency. This is to be achieved through process improvement projects leveraging standardization and automation of cross-team accounting processes and policies. - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- Experience managing accounting/finance process improvement and/or technology projects with aggressive schedules- Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
- PMP, IPMA or equivalent program management qualification
- Lean/ continuous improvement certification
