Job Description

You will be responsible for leading Amazon IT’s AI transformation by completely re-architecting IT systems from the data layer up through all customer facing experiences.

We are looking for a smart and experienced Principal Technical Program Manager who is passionate about AI and has the technical skill and influence to accelerate its adoption in ways that simultaneously drive more delightful IT experiences and greater efficiency. The right candidate is a natural goal-oriented leader who collaborates seamlessly with stakeholders across the IT organization to gain alignment and drive strong results. They work back from customer outcomes to gain deep understanding of problems and opportunities, and skillfully structure programs and mechanisms that catalyze team-level execution and decision making to deliver customer value as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Key job responsibilities
You possess a strong technical program management track record, demonstrated experience launching critical products and services, and a well-rounded technical background in current AI and web technologies. You will be responsible for leading Amazon IT’s evolution in the era of AI. This multi-year cross-cutting program consists of a portfolio of AI-centric sub-programs focused on completely re-architecting Amazon IT from the data layer up through all customer facing experiences. Your contributions will reshape how Amazon IT provides self-service and assisted support, eliminates experience defects, enables faster and more successful new hire onboarding, and provisions the most appropriate software and hardware assets for employees. By having a wide-angle view of the foundational technical investments and business opportunities, you will improve customer outcomes by connecting otherwise independent initiatives, while also improving development efficiency through greater reuse of foundational AI building blocks. Due to your contributions, the application of AI will accelerate, enabling greater productivity for employees and efficiency for IT as a whole.

A day in the life
- Build and lead the execution of program mechanisms and plans across Amazon IT
- Drive alignment, collaboration and execution on shared executive-level goals.
- Align senior leaders and influence teams across IT on a common future vision and strategy.
- Work with product, design, engineering, and science teams on integrating AI foundations and solutions into their products.
- Be the primary point of contact for all program stakeholders.
- Dive deep into technical systems and products.
- Embrace ambiguity and skillfully detangle and clarify to enable teams to move faster.

- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
